Re: лучшие не приедут

Tchaikovski Competition used to truly stand out among many other international cello competitions. However, IMHO, it is losing some of its global significance. I just wonder why the organizers don't do anything about that. They could adjust to the changing reality by simply sending personal invitations to some of the younger cello players with established international reputation (instead of making everyone to prepare those stupid Cd's).

Re: Лучшие не приедут

it is nice idea! i think that big competitions are not fair anymore, unfortunately it became a war between teachers...
and cellist who dont have their professor in jury and who already won some big competitions, wont risk and come... is helmerson in jury? why would kharadze come after winning such difficult competition as feuermann is?

Re: Лучшие не приедут

If I would be rich and could spend 30-50 million dollars any way I want to,
I would organize an ultimate cello competition. I would invite every famous (or not-so-famous) living cello player, young or old, to participate. Just imagine how cool it would be to have Geringas, Yo-Yo Ma, Maisky, Gutman, Schiff, Kirshbaum, Andrianov, Helmerson and others (you name them) competing with each other. Give each of them 3-5 milllion dollars, and they will come! My prediction is that 20-something old kids would beat all these famous people hands down.

Hope to see Georgij Anichenko in final, too. He's really amazing cellist!!! He sounded very clear, there was no agressive attack of the bow, and there was the MUSIC.. I can't tell the same about a lot of other participants..
Bravo, Garik, and come on!!!:appl:

I do not think it is all russian mafia:) because I heard some foreign participants and can say that the best of them passed to the next round.I was espesially impressed by Istvan Vardai. But there was also plenty of not very good players...and they lost.To this moment it seems to be quite fair,I think.

MAFIA

I cannot belive these a person who dares to write this onthe internet. I do not know who you are or where do you live, but I beg you to please do a bit of research about the mafia, and you will see that you do not even know the origine of the word. THe Russians ARE BETTER - It is not the PIANO results. It is the plain TRUCH. Russian have A L W A Y S been better. They have a REAL (not plastic) commitment to make things happen and they have exceeded in Music, the Beaux Arts and literature, composition,., ballet, Mathematics, etc, etc, etc - Please, do your research and let me tell you that you sound very envious. WHen you play like the Russians do, then you will finally achieve something. GO back to your studies.
